Attack ads expected to ramp up in the final stretch of the federal election campaign

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The last push is on!

The Conservatives are out with a new set of ads, and the Liberals and NDP will likely follow.

The parties will all be going full speed during the last ten days of the campaign, trying to get every last vote, according to right-wing political strategist Alise Mills.

She expects the Conservatives to keep communicating to their voter base on two or three specific issues.

“You’ve seen it with the issue around citizenship and immigration. You’re going to see it around the economy — the Conservatives’ message around the economy right now is that the prime minister’s in a trifecta position,” says Mills.

She thinks the Liberals will be split in their messaging because they have some voters who lean left and others who lean right.

Mills says the ads won’t be as tongue-in-cheek as they have been. Instead, she expects they’ll be hard-hitting and direct.

“But what’s most important for the three parties at this point is to be looking at where their key battlegrounds are. And in BC, where we are today, that’s actually an NDP and Conservative battleground.”

Mills adds all of the parties will be pushing hard, with strategists and volunteers getting minimal sleep, working up to the high of election night.
