What lessons have been learned by BC Hydro following major storms?

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – With strong winds expected in certain parts of the province this weekend, will BC Hydro be ready to communicate to customers?

Hydro is already telling people via social media about crews being on standby for certain areas of BC.

“We know that this is what our customers want and we have done this in the past but we’re definitely making more of an effort to do it going forward,” explains Mora Scott with Hydro.

She says they’ve got a team of meteorologists keeping an eye out on the expected storm, which is likely to hit the central and north coasts.

“We’re doing a few more things more efficiently when it comes to logistics and stuff and that’s why we’ve deployed these crews in advance and make sure they have the equipment they need ready to respond to the storm if there is an impact.”

It was at the end of August when extreme weather led to a lot of public backlash over a lack of customer communication.
