VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Lawyers for a BC man found not criminally responsible for the murders of his three children say a Conservative campaign ad is prejudicial and interferes with the justice system. BC Review Board head Bernd Walter calls it either deliberately misleading or woefully misinformed.
In 2010, a judge found Allan Schoenborn was suffering psychosis and not criminally responsible when he stabbed his 10-year-old daughter and smothered his two sons at their Merritt home in April 2008.
The minute-long Conservative radio ad labels Schoenborn a criminal, calling public safety the prime consideration.
Schoenborn’s case is currently before the courts as the Crown is seeking a special designation for him based on new Conservative change to the criminal code.
