Canucks beat the Ducks in a shootout

ANAHEIM, CA (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Canucks remain without a regulation loss through three games of the season as they beat the Ducks 2-1 in a shootout in Anaheim. Radim Vrbata and Alex Burrows had the shootout goals for Vancouver.

After a goalless first period, the Ducks opened the scoring just under two minutes into the second. Sami Vatanen had a shot go off a Canuck and in to make it 1-0 for the home side.

The Canucks pulled level at the 8:38 mark of the middle frame. Fourth liner Adam Cracknell scored from a tight angle for his first goal as a member of the Canucks.

Vancouver gave Anaheim a good chance to win the game in overtime, as Alex Edler took a penalty at the 2:22 mark. The Canucks killed off the man advantage to get the game to the shootout.

After Jared McCann missed to lead off the shootout for Vancouver, Jakob Silfverberg beat Ryan Miller to give Anaheim the lead. Burrows and Vrbata both scored on their attempts though, and Miller stopped Rickard Rackell and Corey Perry.

Miller made 28 saves in regulation to earn the victory. Vancouver was outshot 29-25.

The Canucks (2-0-1) don’t get much time to rest. They will visit the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.
