BRAMPTON (NEWS 1130) – Peel Region police say three people are in custody after a police officer was shot Friday night in Brampton, Ont.
Police say they’re still looking for a fourth suspect in the shooting that landed a police officer and a man in hospital.
Spokesman Const. Thomas Ruttan said the officer was on a premise check call at around 10:20 p.m. Friday when he was fired upon in his cruiser. The officer was hit by a single shot but was able to drive away from the scene and was in a local hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
Ruttan described the officer’s wound as non-life-threatening. He said a male civilian who was shot at the scene prior to the officer’s arrival was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition.
Police are searching for a male suspect considered to be armed and dangerous.
