A look at election results outside the Lower Mainland

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Greens maintained their hold on Saanich-Gulf Islands, but the rest of Vancouver Island went solidly NDP.
So did Skeena-Bulkley Valley, where Nathan Cullen has been re-elected.
Elizabeth May was hoping to have a seatmate in Victoria, but Murray Rankin was re-elected over Green Jo-Ann Roberts by about 6,000 votes.
But once you get north and east of Hope, it was almost a Conservative sweep.
The exceptions were in Kelowna-Lake Country — where Liberal Stephen Fuhr defeated the Tory incumbent Ron Cannan — and just to the south in South Okanagan-West Kootenay, where New Democrat Richard Cannings will represent a riding that stretches from Penticton to Castlegar.
Wayne Stetski defeated Conservative incumbent David Wilks in Kootenay-Columbia.
