We the City Community Summit set to discuss our future

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A group at SFU wants to talk about how cities are run.

It’s called the We the City Community Summit and it takes place over nine days and features 13 different activities.

Shauna Sylvester is the Executive Director for the SFU Public Square, she says they’ll cover a variety of topics.

“We’re focused on housing, we’re focused on transportation, we’re focused the future of our cities, we’re even doing a special edition of what our cities would look like if women designed them.”

She says this is about empowering people to shape their own cities.

“I think We the City is really trying to put people back at the centre of the city. We often think it’s just our governments that run our cities or developers that shape our cities and that’s really not the way we see it.”

The We the City Community Summit begins Friday.
