The Canucks’ seven-game road trip continues in the nation’s capital

OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver’s eastern road swing takes them to Ottawa for a game against the Senators this afternoon. After starting the trip with back-to-back losses, the Canucks rebounded with a win over Columbus on Tuesday and they would love to tack on another victory today.
After a four point performance on Tuesday, Jannik Hansen will remain with the Sedin twins on the first line. Hansen says playing with such talented players makes things very easy.
“It is nice to play with them. You get a lot of opportunities. They are obviously tremendous players and I don’t have to speak to that. It is a matter of getting open for them and getting them the puck as much as possible. Sometimes you shake the lines up and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I am sure we will be changing lines again at some point.”
Ottawa has lost two straight at home and New Westminster native Kyle Turris would love to get a win against his hometown team.
“Every home stand is important especially when you haven’t been doing well at home and lost your last two games. It is something to pick up and turn it around and try to create that home ice advantage that we have been lacking.”
Ottawa Head Coach Dave Cameron echoes the thoughts of Turris, who says his team needs to start playing better.
“We are giving them direction and working with them, but at the end of the day, once they take ownership we will be a much better team. We just have to keep giving them confidence. It is a tough league and it is a process.”
The Senators will have former Surrey Eagles goalie Andrew Hammond between the pipes. Vancouver is countering with Ryan Miller. Jake Virtanen returns to the Canucks lineup, while Jared McCann will be a healthy scratch.
Ben Hutton hails from Prescott, Ontario, which is about an hour drive from Ottawa. He estimates he will have nearly 100 friends and family in attendance today.
