Vancouver promoter responds to sex, drug, capacity claims

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — An event promoter says his organization is being targeted with a private investigation that alleges a licensed, East Vancouver Halloween party involved drug use, over serving, sex acts and was over capacity.
Matt Troy, director of Vancouver Art and Leisure, said there is a long history of their events being targeted and believes the Backdoor Halloween event on October 30th may have been one of them.
“I think if you went to any gay event on Halloween you might see some sort of sexual acts, and as for drug use, I cannot control what I do not see or what my security does not see. We do not condone drug use,” Troy said.
The promoter said he welcomes any inquiry from the province or the city and would cooperate fully.
“I think concerns are important. The city has an obligation to reply to and investigate any concerns or complaints.”
Troy said he has not been made aware of any investigation by the B.C. Liquor Control and Licensing Branch and has not been allowed access to the private investigator’s claims.
