VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Trolley bus service was impacted by frozen lines in a couple of areas this morning.
Anne Drennan with TransLink says they take extra precautions this time of year, when the weather gets cold.
“We have anti-icing trucks that go out on routes or in areas that are typically affected by this. They apply fluids to the lines to de-ice or prevent icing.”
But Drennan adds a rise in humidity can sometimes cause a problem. “That’s why we have to send the de-icing trucks out again to apply hot fluids to the lines to deal with the problem, as it occurs.”
Frozen lines affected bus routes on Oak Street and near Nanaimo and Dundas this morning.
