Henrik Sedin hurt in Canucks’ loss to the Flyers

PHILADELPHIA, PA (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver was shutout for the second time in three games as Steve Mason stopped all 36 Canucks’ shots to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 2-0 win. It was the third straight loss for the Canucks.

Losing the game was only a small concern for the Canucks compared to the loss they suffered before the game was over. Captain Henrik Sedin did not come out of the locker room to begin the second period and did not return due to a lower body injury. The team didn’t offer an update on Henrik’s status, but head coach Willie Desjardins confirmed that someone will be called up from the Utica Comets of the AHL. Henrik is second on the team in scoring with 31 points.

The Flyers opened the scoring with 3:15 remaining in the opening period, but it took a video review before the goal would count. Michael Raffl deflected a shot over Jacob Markstrom and off the in-net camera. The puck was in-and-out of the net so quickly that there was no goal call on the ice, and play continued. After play stopped, the officials went to the review and deemed it a good goal.

Sean Couturier put the game on ice for the Flyers as he banged home a rebound with a little under three minutes to play. Markstrom allowed two goals on 31 shots and with the loss he falls to 1-3-2 on the season.

Vancouver has lost all three games to begin its six-game road trip. After falling 4-0 on Sunday in Chicago, the Canucks suffered a 6-2 loss on Tuesday in Minnesota. They continue the trip on Friday against the Detroit Red Wings.
