VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – An historic streetcar which has carried hundreds of thousands of passengers through Vancouver and Richmond over the years will soon come out of retirement in Cloverdale.
After an early morning trip on the back of a truck from Vancouver, BC Electric Railway Interurban 1207 has arrived at a car barn belonging to the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway.
Volunteers hope to have the train running for the spring/summer season at what is becoming one of Surrey’s fastest growing attractions.
The 110-year-old Made in New Westminster streetcar was previously leased to the City of Vancouver by its Seattle owners.
It was gifted to the Heritage Railway after the Downtown Vancouver Historic Railway at False Creek ceased operations in 2012.
