Pet killer Kayla Bourque granted unescorted day passes

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A woman who has admitted to having fantasies about killing a homeless person and who has been convicted of killing her pets will now be allowed out of her New Westminster halfway house unescorted.

Kayla Bourque will have to wear a GPS ankle bracelet.

She will be allowed to leave on occasion but she must be accountable for where she is.

Her lawyer Andrew Bonfield says she has a lot of restrictions, and this is not freedom. “She has a lot of conditions, she’s going to keep her conditions, she’s going to check in with probation as directed, she’s going to follow routes that she has already advised them of and sign in and sign out as directed, so really, it’s not freedom.”

He says she is looking forward to establishing trust.

Bourque was convicted in 2009 of killing two pets.
