Ski hills ready to welcome crowds for the long weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Family Day Weekend has turned into quite the festival on our ski hills.

Cypress has numerous fun events including face painting, music and colouring contests on top of the great conditions.

There’s a fireworks show on Saturday night at 8pm.

Over at Grouse Mountain, Julia Grant with the resort tells us about 24-Hours of Winter.

“The legacy event from the 2010 Olympics, when NBC broadcast throughout the whole Olympics and the mountain remained open for the duration so it’s our legacy event. Once a year we do this in celebration.”

Activities include the Snowshoe Grind, yoga, skating, a light walk and DJ’s spinning tunes while you ski or snowboard.

“You can access the ski and snowboard runs through the night, you could be snowboarding down the cut at 4 in the morning if you wanted to. We are also running some snowshoe tours at sunset, midnight and sunrise.”
