VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – If you’re looking for love this Valentine’s Day, the Mounties are warning you to be careful about who you share you personal information with.
A common scam is the so-called “Fake Flower Fraud.”
Someone rings your doorbell, ready to deliver a gift basket full of flowers, chocolate and wine.
There’s just one thing that person needs to collect — a swipe of your credit card so there’s a legal record that someone of legal drinking age accepted the basket.
The problem is, there is no secret admirer, and the scammer now has your credit card information.
The cops are also asking you to be careful about what information you share on dating sites.
If you’ve been a victim of fraud, police ask you to notify the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
