Lower Mainland steps up after Langley puppy mill discovered, but the SPCA could use more help

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Metro Vancouver animal lovers have come to the aide of the dozens of dogs seized at a Langley puppy mill. The BC SPCA has all the blankets and towels it needs, but can still use some help.

Response to the story of the malnourished and abused dogs found living in stacked cages in a barn has been overwhelming. We’ve received dozens of calls from people looking for a way to help.

The BC SPCA had been asking people to drop off blankets and towels at their Vancouver shelter on East 7th Ave, but Jane Talbot with the BC SPCA says they’ve already been given enough. “We have had people ride their bikes with donations, people come from the SkyTrain, people walking, people coming and unloading car fulls of donations. It’s just been incredible.”

Talbot says the shelter can always use wet food for the puppies, but for the time being, they have enough towels and blankets.

She says many of the 66 animals seized have great medical needs and those costs add up. She’s recommending those wanting to help make a cash donation to help pay those bills at the BC SPCA website.
