Premier responds to accusations she’s targeting Alberta

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – In responding to accusations she’s targeting Alberta, Premier Christy Clark says that province is just a cautionary tale.

In Tuesday’s Throne Speech, the BC Liberals said our neighbours had lost their focus.

Clark now says her comments weren’t directed at anyone specifically and that Alberta has had tremendous wealth for decades but government after government spent like sailors.

“We saw them really squander a tremendous opportunity. They didn’t diversify their economy, they didn’t put aside their money…it’s not about the politics of it. Their government is really struggling to try and support the province,” she says. “They are our best friends in this country.”

She says when Alberta struggles, we all struggle.

“We want to make sure in British Columbia we don’t fall into that same trap. We gotta learn from that.”

She says that means making sure BC’s economy is diverse.
