Will the Canucks make a move on NHL Trade Deadline Day?

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Canucks fans will be hitting “refresh” a lot on their phones and tablets today. It’s NHL Trade Deadline Day.

Seems a familiar face on the team’s blue line could be on the move.

“All eyes are on Dan Hamhuis today,” says Rick Dhaliwal with NEWS 1130 Sports.

“Will he waive his no-trade clause? Will he have an opportunity to do so? Will the Canucks get a high draft pick for him? He’s the big player to watch for the Canucks… and, of course, Radim Vrbata… there’s another player who this summer will be an unrestricted free agent and possibly on the move today, as well, for the Canucks.”

What will GM Jim Benning be looking for in return for the likes of Hamhuis, Vrbata, or Adam Cracknell?

“The Canucks are eight points out of the playoffs. It’s going to be tough to make those playoffs. If they can get prospects today, if they can get draft picks today — they will be sellers today, no question about it — if they can get some of those for the NHL draft coming up, I think that’s one of the big goals heading into the trading deadline day.”
