LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS 1130) – You may not like it if you drive over the Pattullo Bridge every day, but the cities connected by the span are set to acknowledge the replacement span will be tolled.
An agreement is set to be presented to politicians in Surrey today.
Surrey, New Westminster, and TransLink are all expected to agree in a memorandum of understanding that you will have to pay to cross the new span once it goes up. That plan for the new bridge was included in the regional vision released by the Mayors’ Council in 2014.
Councillors in New Westminster claim if the crossing stays free, streets will end up grid-locked. This memorandum would be a way to pressure the provincial government.
Meanwhile, Coquitlam is working on taking another step to getting the long-awaited Evergreen Line running. It’s working on adding hundreds more spaces at park and ride facilities along the train’s route.
