Woman killed in Burnaby hit and run

By

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – A hit and run in Burnaby has left a 25-year-old woman dead.

It happened at Willingdon and Deer Lake Parkway last night just before midnight.

Corporal Daniela Panesar says witnesses saw a man and woman getting out a Range Rover and running up the street. Police say the vehicle was “fraudulently obtained.”

“Airbags from the suspect vehicle deployed and police believe the two people inside this vehicle were injured as a result. It is very likely that we will gather DNA evidence from that vehicle. So, it is only a matter of time before we are able to identify the people involved.”

Witnesses at the scene of the hit and run described seeing a woman exiting and fleeing the suspect vehicle. She is described as:

• Caucasion female
• Dirty blonde or light brown hair, tied up high into a bun
• Prominent facial features
• Wearing a dark coat possibly a trench-coat style
• It is possible that she has facial injuries
• Believed to be in her mid-twenties.

Willingdon remained closed for hours overnight. A twisted red car was under a tarp, straddling the curb right beside a bus shelter.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP Traffic Services at 604-294-7922.
