Vancouver woman says she won’t eat until Site C construction is halted

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The makings of a tent city are forming in front of BC Hydro’s downtown office in protest of the Site C dam.

One of the demonstrators insists she won’t eat until the province puts a stop to the project.

Kristin Henry says she’s pitting her life against the province’s desire to put this through.

“It just has to stop. They’re doing drastic things and it’s kind of calling for drastic measures. They’re going to do everything they can to push this project through and I’m going to do everything I personally can to stop it.”

“We’re running out of clean water. We’re running out of clean land and air. All the things we actually need to survive,” she argues.

The Vancouver woman says the hunger strike is also symbolic because the where the dam will flood is considered good agricultural land and valuable to indigenous people.
