City of Vancouver worker crushed to death by large tree limb

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A City of Vancouver employee is dead after an accident at Connaught Park this morning.

Brett Mineer with WorkSafeBC says the worker was in a boom-mounted bucket, pruning trees when he was crushed.

“They were working in that bucket when a tree limb apparently crushed the worker against the interior of the bucket. It appears to have been quite a large diameter tree limb that pushed him up against the side of the bucket.”

The worker was taken to the hospital, but later died.

There’s no word on whether the worker was alone when the accident happened.

WorkSafe is still trying to get a better idea of what went wrong.
