Local car enthusiasts pumped about new Tesla

LOS ANGELES, CA. (NEWS 1130) – It’s the car thousands of people have been waiting for, Tesla Motors’ new, lower-priced Model 3 sedan.

There probably hasn’t ever been this kind of excitement over an electric car and Tesla CEO Elon Musk introduced prototypes of his new model last night at the company’s LA design studio.

Closer to home, members of the Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association have been looking forward to a car like this for 20 years.

“I had this conversation at the Auto Show last week and a salesman was trying to sell me a gas car and I looked at him and said, ‘Gas is so yesterday,'” says Don Chandler who loves the new range of Tesla, when fully charged can go at least 350 kilometres.

“This will easily go anywhere in North America. You’re going to have the supercharge stations — it just opens a new concept for driving electric.”

Tesla is doubling its fast charging stations to more than 7,000, but are there any concerns given all the hype?

“Let’s just hope they can produce them fast enough,” Chandler chuckles.

The cars have a starting price of $35,000US and it’s expected to go on sale at the end of 2017.
