SURREY (NEWS 1130) – The number of times police have been called out to reports of shots fired in Surrey has hit 30 this year after a couple more incidents over the weekend.

The latest involved people in two vehicles exchanging gunfire near 132nd Street and 88th Avenue last night.

This morning, we spoke with one man who isn’t surprised by the pace of violence, but he is concerned. “I live in the area. I have a five-year-old kid. I can’t imagine him being around a shooting… It’s getting worse and worse.”

“It seems like same old, same old right now,” says a woman who lives in Surrey. “There was another one the other night… that one was really close to home — just down the street. It’s ridiculous and needs to stop.”

Nobody was hurt in yesterday’s shooting. RCMP don’t have any suspects.

The day before, a man was seriously hurt in another shooting near Kirk Bride Elementary on 92nd Avenue near 122nd Street.

Just last week, Surrey RCMP spoke out about the number of cases of shots fired this year, pointing out the city is on pace to surpassing last year’s total.
