Clipper introducing passenger ferry between Victoria, Vancouver

SEATTLE – A new option is coming for people travelling between downtown Victoria and downtown Vancouver.

Clipper, the operator of Clipper Vacations, is planning to introduce a passenger ferry next spring that will run between the two cities.

The company currently operates passenger ferries between Victoria and Seattle, and Seattle and the San Juan Islands in Washington state.

Clipper CEO Meredith Tall says the new tourism-oriented route will have run one round trip route daily to start, and there is the possibility of adding more trips if necessary.

The company has not yet announced what type of vessel will be used or how much tickets will cost.

BC Ferries currently runs numerous sailings a day between Tsawwassen on the mainland and Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island, locations that require a drive of more than 30 kilometres to get to either Vancouver or Victoria.
