Question of whether Schoenborn should be designated a ‘high risk accused’ being debated

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – Prosecutors at Supreme Court in New Westminster argue Allan Schoeborn should have strict additional rules placed on him and be labelled as a “high risk accused.”

It could take weeks to decide the fate of the man found not criminally responsible for killing his three kids in Merritt eight years ago.

The designation would mean Schoenborn would almost never be allowed outside his psychiatric hospital in Coquitlam. It would also mean his review hearings would take place every three years instead of annually.

“The high-risk designation would prevent him from getting into the community, would force him into treatment, and would give the family some peace of mind,” says Dave Teixeira, who speaks for Darcie Clark and the victims’ family.

In 2010, Schoenborn was found not criminally responsible for killing his 10-year-old daughter and boys, aged five and eight, in their Merritt home.
