AUDIO: Donald Trump to attend rallies in Washington State

LYNDEN, Wash. (NEWS 1130) – Things could get ugly just south of the border this weekend when Donald Trump makes his first campaign stop in Washington State.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee appears at rallies in Spokane and Lynden tomorrow afternoon.

Carleen Johnson with KOMO News tells NEWS 1130 anchors Brock Hunter and Amelia John things may get heated.

“Certainly it’s gonna be a good size crowd of supporters and probably a good size crowd of protesters as well,” says Johnson, who adds Latin group El Centro De Laraza is planning to to send protesters to the Spokane and Lynden rallies.

Washington State has been firmly Democratic, but Johnson says Trump seems to think he’s got a shot.

“He’s got a lot of military support here, a lot of Boeing people that might not have though they’d vote forn Donald Trump but given some of the things he’s talking about he might be their candidate.”

Johnson says Trump thinks the area is still in play and believes he can sway some voters.
