Thefts from cars way up in Vancouver; police remind you not to leave things in your vehicle

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Thefts from cars is way up in Vancouver this year.

VPD Constable Brian Montague says there have been 5,000 incidents reported so far. “That’s an increase of 40 to 50 per cent from last year. So, we’re seeing a huge increase.”

“These are crimes that are, for the most part, almost all preventable. If individuals didn’t leave items in their car, thieves wouldn’t steal them.”

Montague adds this is a major problem happening across the region, not just in Vancouver.
