Surrey grads trash Harrison Lake campground

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Grad season has left another Harrison Lake campground worse for wear.

This follows a similar incident last year in the same area. The exact details of everybody involved isn’t known, but based on the trash left behind, it appears graduating students from Semiahmoo Peninsula and Elgin Park Secondary were part of the problem.

“The school, the principal, are appalled at what the photos showed,” says Doug Strachan with the Surrey School District. “The principal notified all parents what had happened, at least the grad parents.”

That’s left the district condemning the behaviour while stressing this incident doesn’t reflect on all grads, some of whom want to help clean it up.

“It’s unacceptable,” says Strachan. “Particularly when a handful or a few dozen students can drag the school’s name through the mud in such a way.”

Last year, grads from Earl Marriott Secondary caused a similar mess at a nearby campground.
