CBC executive fired amid Ghomeshi scandal suing for wrongful dismissal

A former top CBC executive fired amid the Jian Ghomeshi scandal is suing the broadcaster for wrongful dismissal.

In his unproven statement of claim, Todd Spencer says he was scapegoated for political reasons.

He says senior managers were all deeply involved in his investigation of the former host of Q.

The 45-year-old former human resources director is seeking at least 640-thousand dollars in various damages.

The CBC rejects the claim, saying it fired him in April 2015 for just cause.

The broadcaster argues he failed or refused to properly investigate the allegations against Ghomeshi, and lied or withheld information from management.
