OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is dipping his toes into the Brexit issue on the eve of the critical UK vote.
Trudeau says he’ll be watching the vote closely.
“I’ve always believed we are stronger together, but I’ll allow the people of Great Britain to make their own determination tomorrow.”
With the Canada-EU trade deal still not final, the federal government has a lot riding on the referendum. If the UK leaves, it could change the terms of the deal dramatically.
Trudeau says Britain has been a strong voice in favour of the trade agreement, and he hopes it remains a part of the EU to push for the deal that will create jobs and boost the Canadian economy.
