Four alarm fire destroys legal grow-op in Langley

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – Investigators will be trying to determine whether any Health Canada rules were broken before a four alarm fire destroyed a legal marijuana grow operation in a Langley warehouse.

It took several hours to contain the fire on Fraser Highway at 230th street after it broke out at around 10am.

Assistant Fire Chief Bruce Ferguson up to 20 butane tanks were found by fire crews.

“That’s not really consistent with growing marijuana. We’re not sure what they were for but there’s some assumption that it was for something that is in contravention with their Health Canada licence,” says Ferguson.

There was at least one explosion during the fire, possibly from a propane tank.

What’s left of the building will be pulled apart.
