Multiple arrests after year-long gang investigation in the Peace Region

DAWSON CREEK (NEWS 1130) – More than 40 people are facing charges following a year-long investigation in BC’s Peace Region that started back in July of 2015 and police are still looking for a dozen others.

“These enforcement actions are a blow to the capabilities of certain gang members in BC’s North and Peace regions. We have taken guns and drugs off the streets of our communities, and reduced the threat to public safety,” said Chief Superintendent Kevin Hackett, Chief Officer of the CFSEU-BC. “CFSEU-BC will continue its relentless pursuit of those gang members and their associates who choose to continue their criminal enterprises and place our communities at risk.”

The investigation also led police to the seizure of multiple guns, cocaine, roughly 700 fentanyl pills and about $70,000.

Cash

“By removing drugs, firearms and the cash associated with them, you have not only disrupted those illegal activities, but you have sent a message to others that we will not tolerate violence and gang activity in our communities,” says Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General Mike Morris.

The investigation was the result of a combined effort by police agencies in the Lower Mainland, RCMP and the South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority.
