Whitecaps and Orlando play to 2-2 draw

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Masato Kudo was missed by the Whitecaps when he was out with a broken jaw. The striker would show why with his goal that helped Vancouver to a 2-2 draw with Orlando.

The Whitecaps were sluggish to start the game, and Orlando maintained the pressure on the Vancouver defence. It would pay off for the visitors in the 14th minute when midfielder Julio Baptista put one past goalkeeper David Ousted giving Orlando the 1-0 lead.

Vancouver would respond in the 35th minute when Nicolás Mezquida would head in a rebound off of a Masata Kudo shot. The Whitecaps would take the lead eight minutes later when Kudo got behind the Orlando defence and headed in a cross from Pedro Morales on a free kick, and go into the break with a 2-1 lead.

Orlando would tie things up early in the second half when Canadian Cyle Larin would use his head to beat Ousted, leveling things up in the 50th minute.

In the 60th minute, Whitecaps defender Jordan Smith took Julio Baptista down in the box and Orlando was given a penalty. Julio Baptista would kick it over the bar, keeping the score tied.
