SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Fraser Health is out with another warning after 16 more overdoses in Surrey overnight.

That makes 36 in the last 48 hours – with 3 people now in the hospital.

Dr. Victoria Lee says that’s more than they usually see in an entire week.

“We are concerned about crack cocaine that may have been contaminated with fentanyl, or a fentanyl analog, such as acetyl fentanyl,” says Lee.

“Many individual reported using what they believed was crack cocaine.”

Most of the people affected have been revived with the use of the opioid antidote naloxone.

The overdoses have mainly happened in the Whalley area of 135A Street and 108th Ave.
