Man accused of murder after wife’s death in Port Moody house fire appears in court

PORT MOODY (NEWS 1130) – A man accused of killing his wife in a suspicious fire in Port Moody just over a week ago has appeared in court.

The man faces second-degree murder and arson charges.

We are limited in what we can tell you about the case, due to a publication ban on the accused’s name. The ban is in place largely to protect the identities of his children.

The fire broke out on Sunday, July 10th.

Police were originally called to a home for a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, the house was on fire.

While the five children escaped, the man’s wife died after suffering serious burns.

The accused is scheduled to return to court next month.
