Unsung Hero: Vancouver firefighter shows compassion, humanity

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – NEWS 1130’s latest Unsung Hero is Charles Mulder, a firefighter who given in more ways than one. He was nominated by Randy Mulligan, who wrote the following:
Charles is a Vancouver firefighter who just donated a kidney to one of our retired chiefs. At the very least Charles endured the surgery, the pain and the anxiety. Not to mention, his family had to go through the process not knowing for sure how it would all play out.
Charles also does humanitarian mission. Earlier this year he was in Belize with Firefighters without Borders, an annual occurrence for Charles, training firefighters in 3rd world countries.
Amazing compassion.

Charles will receive $500, and the person who nominated him gets a $1,000 donation to the charity of their choice.
