VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The ‘Balaclava Rapist’ has been granted day parole for the Vancouver area. Larry Takahashi was denied full parole but granted day escorts.
He was convicted of multiple sexual assaults going back to the 1980s in Edmonton and was sentenced to three life sentences.
He was released on day parole several times.
Patrick Storey is with the Parole Board of Canada. He says Takahashi will be closely monitored.
“He’ll be supervised by a parole officer, he’ll also have a psychologist, a program officer, he’ll have the halfway staff all monitoring his behaviour and keeping a close watch on him.”
In 2013, he was sent back to prison only a few months after being granted an unescorted temporary pass from his halfway house in Victoria.
