Three long-time human characters of Sesame Street fired

LOS ANGELES (NEWS 1130) – A little less than a year after Sesame Street announced it was switching to HBO, three well-known original cast members have been let go.

Bob McGrath, Emilio Delgado and Roscoe Orman, who played Bob, Luis and Gordon, respectively, won’t regularly appear on the popular kids show anymore.

The Sesame Workshop says the trio will represent the show at public events.

Sesame Street switched from its long-time home on PBS to HBO at the beginning of this year, also marking a change in formats from a one-hour program to a half-hour show. However, the cable network has the rights to air the next five seasons of the show.

Sesame Street first premiered in 1969.
