Whitecaps remain winless in Dallas after 2-0 loss

DALLAS (NEWS 1130) The Vancouver Whitecaps hung around with MLS leaders FC Dallas, until the home side scored twice in three minutes en route to a 2-0 win.

21 year old midfielder Kellyn Acosta opened the scoring in the 56th minute when he got behind the Whitecaps defence and put the ball past Vancouver goalkeeper David Ousted.

Just three minutes later, Dallas defender Atiba Harris put a long ball on to the foot of Maxi Urruti who came in alone and scored in the bottom corner, giving Dallas a 2-0 lead.

Vancouver was unable to generate any quality scoring chances to get back into the game. Dallas keeper Chris Sietz only had to make one save for the clean sheet.

Whitecaps midfielder Blas Perez played against his former team for the first time, but he was a non-factor for Vancouver.

With the win, FC Dallas improves to 13-6-5 six points up on Colorado for top spot in the league. Vancouver falls to 8-9-6 and is hanging on to the sixth and final playoff spot in the western conference.

The Whitecaps will play the last game of their three game road trip in Colorado on Saturday.
