Woman finds phone after dropping it out of a plane above Stanley Park

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s a common mistake that you’ve likely made several times. You drop your smartphone and cringe as it tumbles toward the ground. That happened to a local woman last night but her experience was taken to the next level.

Jeannine Buck from Abbotsford is thankful to have her phone back in one piece after dropping it out of a small plane. She was a passenger in a Cessna 1-40 last night and was taking pictures with her phone above Stanley Park when she accidentally let it go.

Dave Zoppa was flying the plane and says they used the ‘Find My iPhone‘ app to track it down. “We used the app and we phoned it, we listened to it by ear and we could hear it in the woods, just off the trail. So we kept dialing it and getting closer and closer and we found it.”

Zoppa says the phone must’ve hit trees and branches on its way down, but somehow the screen wasn’t cracked. “Somebody on Facebook said, ‘You can drop an iPhone from two inches and it’ll be trashed [and] it’ll break, but drop it from 2,500 feet and it won’t have a mark.”
