Two young teens possibly given GHB in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Abbotsford Police are out with a warning for parents, especially those who have teenaged daughters and it follows a scary incident this past weekend.

Investigators want to speak with a couple of Good Samaritans who picked up a 16-year-old girl after both she and her 14-year-old friend may have been given the date rape drug sometime either Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Constable Ian MacDonald says they’re trying to piece together what happened around the Matsqui Recreation Centre and skateboard park on Clearbrook Road between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.

“With both these young girls, the night is pretty foggy. They certainly have admitted that they were consuming alcohol but it gets pretty hazy in and around where the GHB would have come from and who would have provided it.”

Both of the girls were taken to the hospital, treated and released. “What we need to rule out is that there was any nefarious purpose that somebody didn’t try to either take advantage of these young girls or administer this noxious substance to a 14-year-old. I’m sure the parents, as well as these young girls, would like some answers as to what happened.”

MacDonald says the Good Samaritans haven’t done anything wrong and hopes they can fill in some of the blanks.

Anyone with information about this case are asked to call Abbotsford Police at 604.859.5225 or text 222973 (abbypd).
