VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Despite paying the highest gasoline prices in Canada, British Columbians have increased their gas-buying more than any other province.

Statistics Canada says 5.5 million litres of gas was sold in BC last year, up 16.9 per cent from 2014. The increase was 793 million litres, a 100 million more than Quebec which had the second-biggest rise in gas purchases.

National figures show gasoline sales rose 4.5 per cent to 44.6 billion litres last year as the average price fell 15 per cent to $1.09 per litre. The data agency also points out that during the peak of the summer driving season, July and August, Canadians were buying more than 4 billion litres of gas per month.
