RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (NEWS 1130) – White Rock’s Hilary Caldwell added to Canada’s medal collection Friday by taking bronze in the women’s 200-metre backstroke.
Caldwell clocked a time of 2:07.54, which was actually slower than the 2:07.17 she swam in the semifinals and her 2:07.40 qualifying time Thursday, but it was good enough to wind up on the podium.
American Madeline Dirado won gold in an upset over Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu who took silver.
