Toddler falls from third-floor window in Abbotsford

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Another warning for parents to watch their kids around windows. A four-year-old boy is in the hospital after falling out of the window of an Abbotsford apartment building.

The toddler had climbed up on a couch, and managed to push out a screen covering the window; falling through the opening onto the ground below. An adult family member was home at the time.

Police say the boy tumbled from the third-floor and is lucky to not be more seriously hurt. He was taken to the hospital with two fractured femurs but is expected to make a full recovery.

It happened at a building on Mount Waddington Ave just before 8pm last night, and while a Medivac chopper was called in, witnesses say the boy was conscious as he was taken away.

Police suggest making sure furniture is not placed under any open windows, using guards or locks and ensuring the window opening is no wider than four inches.
