The Lions roar in to Ottawa for a game against the Redblacks

OTTAWA, ON. (NEWS 1130) – Week 10 of the CFL season kicks off this afternoon with the BC Lions in the nation’s capital facing the REDBLACKS. Both teams will be looking for bounce back games after bad losses last week.

Ottawa is changing things up at the quarterback position. Trevor Harris gets the start over veteran Henry Burris, who has underwhelmed over the last couple of week. Harris has thrown for nine touchdowns in five games this season and defensive back Ronnie Yell says the Leos will have to be ready.

“Harris is an elite quarterback and you have to show him respect. He has paid his dues in this league and last year he ripped it up. We have high expectations when it comes to playing against him. We are ready to get after him, make him uncomfortable and get a couple of picks.”

The REDBLACKS sit in first in the East Division, while the Leos are trying to track down the Stampeders in the west. Quarterback Jonathon Jennings says if his team wants to close the gap on Calgary, they will need to play a great game against a tough Ottawa team.

“They have a good team with a very aggressive defence. They have two good quarterbacks. Harris is coming back and his play has been outstanding. It will be a challenge for us as we are both coming off tough losses, but hopefully we come out there and fight a little harder then we did last week.”

The Lions are also changing things up, slotting in Anthony Allen at the running back position. He says he’s been eager to get back out there and make an impact.

“I have been itching to get back on to the field. It is a big game facing the number one team in the east. I can’t wait to play. I have been anxious and have a lot of anxiety built up. I am ready to go out and play.”

It is the first of two meetings between BC and Ottawa this season. They will meet again in Week 15 at BC Place

Kick-off is at 4:30 p.m.
