NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Police in North Vancouver need your help finding out who was behind a scary incident late last night.
The RCMP say just before midnight someone threw a liquor bottle at a taxi, breaking the driver-side window and injuring the man behind the wheel. Despite cuts to his face and a broken tooth, the cabbie managed to get the car over to the curb along East 29th Street near Lynn Valley. The driver was taken to Lions Gate Hospital, but has since been released.
A passenger in the backseat was also hit by flying glass but she wasn’t hurt. “This was a reckless and violent act,” says Sergeant Doug Trousdell. “Throwing anything at moving traffic, whether it be bottles or tomatoes, is incredibly dangerous. Fortunately this didn’t turn out to be even more serious.”
Investigators also discovered a bag of tomatoes near the scene, and believe the suspect may have been throwing tomatoes before deciding to throw the liquor bottle. The 375ml Bombay Sapphire gin bottle was also recovered. Police also found a skateboard, which might have been left by the suspect.
