Farmer disagrees with Richmond’s mayor’s take on Massey Tunnel replacement project

By

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – A farmer in Richmond says he disagrees with Richmond’s mayor’s take on the potential risks of building a bridge to replace the Massey Tunnel.

Bill Zylmans owns WA Farms and says infrastructure needs to grow as the Lower Mainland grows.

“For businesses and the betterment of the Lower Mainland, we need a crossing that’s going to keep things active and keep things alive and be productive for the economy,” explains Zylmans.

“If you’re in business, time is of the essence. If you’re going to work, time is of the essence. And we seem to not have enough time in this day and age to get anything accomplished so any way that we can help and make this move forward is better for all of us.”

Zylmans says the highly congested tunnel is slowing down farmers’ ability to move their product.
