Changes to MSP possible, premier says

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS 1130) – There’s hope for people fed up with paying BC’s Medical Services Plan Premiums.

Christy Clark says BC’s Medical Services Premium system doesn’t work, and it’s time to “cut constituents a break”, and the system is being “reconsidered”.

The Premier is eyeing a change, calling the current process archaic and illogical. She says it’s time for a rethink, but there are no full details yet on what that will look like, or when it will happen.

Clark says they’re considering basing payment on income when it comes to revamping the MSP program. For now, Clark says the province will strive to prevent any future increases.

BC is the only province where citizens pay a medical premium.

Clark was speaking in Maple Ridge today, announcing funding for more ambulances in Maple Ridge and the Tri-Cities.
