Interest is peaking in sale of Grouse Mountain

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s only been on the market for about 24 hours but there is a lot of interest from prospective buyers looking at purchasing a prized-piece of real estate on the North Shore.

Tony Quattrin with CBRE, the company in charge of marketing Grouse Mountain, isn’t surprised by the flood of calls the company is getting. “I think it’s pretty rare that you’re going to see such a diverse resort offering skiing… summer year-round activities so close to a major metropolitan area like Vancouver.”

He describes Grouse as both “unique” and “iconic.” Quattrin explains people from Toronto, the United States and overseas are reaching out to him. “Vancouver already is one of the top cities in the world. It has the eyes of the investment community on it, everybody wants to get a piece of Vancouver and this is a really attractive piece.”

However, Quattrin wants people to remember the Grouse Grind is not part of the sale, in part, because it’s operated by Metro Vancouver.

Quattrin says they have yet to consider a sale price considering Vail Resorts bought Whistler Blackcomb earlier this year for $1.4 billion.
The popular mountain resort sees about 1.3 million visitors every year, has 26 runs and four chairlifts and an open-air gondola.
